From the moment I knew what a soul simulator could do, I have always wondered how would it feel to experience the after transmission phase. I thought it would feel magical or divine or something which cannot be expressed in words. It was something similar, except for the fact that I have already experienced this feeling before. As soon as I pressed the button and got transported to another person’s body, I had this strong feeling of randomness taking control over my thought process. So what’s the word for it? Where did I feel it before?! Is it divine? Is it magical? After thinking hard, I found out that it was nothing different from the experience I had hundreds of times before, “hangover”.

I feel like myself, except for the weird attire, too strong appetite and oddly stuffed up brain and memories. I suddenly felt more responsible about something I didn’t even know. As mentioned in the instructions, I pressed the ‘info’ button. A screen appeared about the info of the person I was in. It sounds weird, “The person I was in”, but that’s what it was. The ecstasy extracts the information about him from the memories buried inside and projects. I had learned enough to survive for the day and started off to my workplace, the royal palace. First mission in royal palace, that’s just great. Isn’t it? No, it wasn’t. I was the chief royal executioner. But still, it was a big day though. A chief royal executioner is summoned only if the case is of extreme seriousness and of topmost priority. So, that was it! He executed a person he thought to be one of the most dangerous threats of the society and hence thought he changed the course of mankind.

As soon as I went to the royal court, I was briefed about the proceedings which have been going on for a few days- “The culprit is accused of the impiety and corrupting the youth. He kept introducing new gods and preached against the old gods of the city. With the claims that he is a god’s gift to Athens, he misled the thoughts of youth for his own fame. Most importantly, the culprit embraced the anti-democratic views. He used the revered position of a preacher in the society for the uncharitable reasons and incepted young minds with ideas that democracy is not a solution and is a waste. Adding to all these, he has been trying to preach his morals even to the jury that questioned him.”

So, he truly was a threat to mankind. We were given two options, either a penalty of 3000 drachmae or the death sentence. I already had seen enough culprits escaping justice by paying penalties back (forth) in my time. I don’t want it to happen this time and to my delight, voting process resulted in the declaration of the death sentence and I never thought that I would feel so happy serving a cup of poison to someone. As he laid there, dead, I was asked to read the final testimonial of his death and my voice trembled as I read the written testimonial, “I hereby announce that the potential threat to the city of Athens has been eliminated through the execution of Socrates (age 71), who polluted the innocent minds of youth through his false preaching.”

Did I just end an era of philosophy? Well, it was unavoidable as it has already happened in my past and I was just re-enacting it! Of course, he (Dairy person) was right. He changed the course of mankind. We all know that the death of Socrates started a spark which grew into a wild fire amongst the philosophical thinking of the people all over the world. At the end of the day, I left his body, but couldn’t get rid of my guilt and anger. And misinterpretations of great people by society didn’t stop with that incident. There were the theories of Copernicus, there were the thoughts of Galileo, there were the paintings of Vincent Van Gogh and many more which were rejected by the society only to be regretted later on. May be that’s how the world is! But there’s always one thing- no matter how much you try to supress the change, if it is true and powerful enough, no one can stop it from spreading its roots all over the world. Today we live by the principles of Socrates whom society hated in his time. All this is too much to think of and ponder over. I felt that it’s time I need to move on. After all this, I needed some pleasant time and hence I took out the fragment which I collected from the collective graves of one of the greatest and little known lovers of all time. Time to feel some love…………
